Dr. Marta Savigliano
加州大學河濱分校 UCR 和加州大學洛杉磯分校 UCLA榮譽教授 ,曾任美國舞蹈學會CORD(Congress of Research on Dance )主席和 Global South Advanced Studies 的共同主持人。柏林大學國際研究中心計畫案 “Interweaving Performance Cultures”之訪問學者,2016 年曾獲得 University of Minnesota 舞蹈系的邀請擔任訪問學者。她曾在 1997 受到臺灣中央研究院之邀請,至中研院民族所演講“Nocturnal Ethnographies: An Exploration into the Social World of Tango Club Culture” 。
獲獎著作《Tango and the Political Economy of Passion》(暫譯:探戈舞和熱情的經濟政治) 為舞蹈研究、政治經濟哲學研究的重要書籍,影響力遍及舞蹈理論研究、文化人類學、 政治社會學、女性主義和後殖民研究相關理論發展。


Dr. Marta Savigliano
Marta Elena Savigliano holds a Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Hawaii-Manoa. She is the Professor Emerita in Critical Dance Studies at University of California, Riverside/World Arts & Cultures/Dance at UC Los Angeles. Savigliano was the President at Congress on Research in Dance (2010-2014), and is the Co-Director of GLOSAS (Global South Advanced Studies) in Buenos Aires. She was the Visiting Scholar at Sage Cowles Land Grant Chair, Dance Department, University of Minnesota (2016); Invited Fellow in Interweaving Performance Cultures, International Research Center, at Freie Universitat Berlin (2011-2012).
Savigliano is an Argentine political theorist and anthropologist interested in the politics of culture, including the transnational traffic of cultural goods, workers, ideologies and affects under global capitalism. She is the author of Tango and the Political Economy of Passion (Westview, 1995), translated into Turkish, Slovene and Japanese, which received the Congress of Research on Dance Award for Outstanding Book 1993-1996. Her second book, Angora Matta: Fatal Acts of North-South Translation (Wesleyan UP, 2003) includes ethnographic essays, film criticism, and a tango-opera libretto. Angora Matta, the tango-opera, was premiered in 2002 at the Teatro Presidente Alvear, Buenos Aires.
